The Microduck bilingual guide

Microduck is an open-source bipedal robot duck from Pollen Robotics, part of Hugging Face. We compiled its hardware specs, software architecture, training pipeline and update flow into a bilingual, offline-readable technical reference.

01About the site

Why it needed its own site

Primary material is English-first and split across repositories, press releases and the product page. Understanding why a small robot is designed this way meant cross-referencing a dozen pages.

  • Written from the ground up, so you do not have to read a dozen English pages before you can start.
  • Hardware and software are broken down layer by layer — structure first, parameters second.
  • The whole path from training to deployment, including how simulated training transfers to real hardware.
  • Every claim keeps its original source link so it can be checked.
02Inside the guide

What you will find

Hardware, layer by layer

From the overall frame down to joint actuation and sensor placement — what it is made of first, spec sheets second.

How the software is organised

Control loops, state estimation and high-level tasks: what each layer owns and where the boundaries sit.

Training through to hardware

How policies are trained in simulation and transferred to the physical robot, and where that transfer usually breaks.

Bilingual and readable offline

A complete page in each language that works without a connection, with source links kept on every claim.
